Ecosystems, Animals, Characteristics, and Climate!

We are learning all about Ecosystems, and the animals within them! We want to find out how animals are able to survive in such circumstances, how we can help endangered animals, and how does climate change affect our animal population?

Recently, we focused on extinct and endangered species. We also want to give our attention to our living and healthy world as well. Therefore, this week, we are all about the life of the wild. We will be focusing on 3 particular ecosystems: The ocean, desert, and the rainforest.

Students will also be completing a project to display an example of their ecosystem (which they will choose), as well as provide examples of animals that live there. Along with this, students will write a paragraph about their ecosystem, and its climate.

Let's get ready to learn!

Arrowtown!!!

Students will soon be getting the real life experience of living in a world with BILLS! Students will have responsibilities like never before! Welcome to Arrowtown!

What is Arrowtown you ask? & Who will be involved???

Arrowtown was founded last year in the 2nd grade classroom! It teaches students all about the economy! This year, we are expanding Arrowtown to the ENTIRE school! Everyone will have a job and a role the Arrowtown society. An economy is a big task to run, so we will ask for volunteers, and students will learn to be responsible with money because they have git shops, bills, and a job. Some of the bills include: Rent, Donations, and ALGW (Arrowtown Light, Gas, and Water)!

What is the Job of First Grade!

This year, first grade will be responsible for St. Jude's Donation Drive. We will be the community helpers! If someone loses their job, wants to make a donation, or needs help, we will do what we can for temporary services! The donations we collect will also be transferred into real money to donate to St. Jude's Research Hospital! This is still being planned out!

When is Arrowtown?

Arrowtown will begin the week after Fall Break (October 12-16)! The official consistency days are still being planned, but we cannot wait to get started! Arrowtown will be a full day event! Go Arrows!

Why Arrowtown?

Arrowtown combines all of the school subjects, as well as teaches students about social skills. In order for Arrowtown to be successful, students must learn to collaborate, be responsible, and how the economy works, such as wants and needs, and supply and demand! The most awesome part about it???? It is all paperless, and engaging! Who wouldn't want to be a part Arrowtown?!

iReady!

This week, we will begin putting students on iReady. iReady is a K-12 adaptive diagnostic instruction. This is a growth program that enhances student learning. It does this by teaching each student in a rigorous, individualized manner. Furthermore, iReady teaches at a level that is appropriate for each student. It is standard driven, and very interactive. Here is a link to introduce you the program, and what it entails!
